Rejoicing Spirits Services & Fellowship

First Sunday of Every Month

Rejoicing Spirits of Eastern Berks County invites anyone to attend their services and fellowship times on the first Sunday of every month at 3:00 PM at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ. Parking is located behind the church with an accessible entrance from the parking lot. All are welcome to each 30 to 40 minute, no-shush ecumenical worship service that enriches the lives of all people, especially the differently-abled, their caregivers, families and friends. Rejoicing Spirits includes music, playing musical instruments, joyous singing, opportunities to participate, brief and meaningful messages, and the chance to connect with others. LC Medical Spring Chicken 5K

On April 27, LC Medical and Support Services is gathering to run, walk, and celebrate life at the Hamburg Park along the Schuylkill River Trail. Join them for a fun morning including a 5K race timed by Pretzel City, Kids Chick Case (or 12 and under fun run), inflatables, Chik-Fil-A, balloon animals and more (including team tents, which is new for this year!) 4th Annual Berks Street Art Festival

Stop by the 4th Annual Berks Street Art Festival, focused on kindness and creativity, on Saturday, May 4 from 10 AM to 2 PM. A rain date is scheduled for May 11. This event is taking place at the Reading-Muhlenberg Career & Technology Center, located at 2615 Warren Road in Reading and is presented by The Camel Project. Attendees will enjoy chalk art, music, dance, painting, vendors, and food! The Camel Caravan will also be in attendance at this event. Learn more here!

 

Community Yard Sale

Friends of Fleetwood Parks is hosting a Community Yard Sale at the Fleetwood Park on Saturday, May 4 from 8 AM to 2 PM. Reserve your space by emailing [email protected] for a 10’x10′ area for only $10.  Fees are $15 for the day of the event.  Breakfast and lunch will be available for purchase.  The event will be held rain or shine. All proceeds will benefit Friends of Fleetwood Parks.

 

46th Annual Pops Concert and Dinner Dance

Sunday, May 5, 2024

The Rajah Shrine is hosting their 46th Annual Pops Concert and Dinner Dance on Sunday, May 5 at 2 PM. In this special event, members of the audience will be seated at tables at stage level with Bandmaster, Noble Bruce Rohrbach, and the Concert Band to enjoy an intimate cabaret musical performance.  Light snacks, camel’s milk and soda will be available to our guests.  Adult beverages will be available for purchase.  Following the hour long concert, a light meal will be served by our caterer.  During the meal and intermission, the dance floor shall be set up for the next relaxing entertainment with the Nobleaires Dance Band, under the direction of Noble Wayne Grace, featuring big band music.

Music and dinner reservations are $25.00.  Attendance is open to the public, but seats are reserved and limited. All proceeds will benefit the Rajah Concert Band, and reservations must be confirmed and paid by Friday, April 26. Reading Choral Society Concert

The Reading Choral Society is hosting Johannes Brahms’ Liebeslieder Waltzes & Edward Elgar’s From the Bavarian Highlands on Sunday, May 5 at 4PM. Join us at the Scottish Rite Cathedral, located at 430 S. Seventh Street in West Reading, under the direction of Dr. Graham Bier. RCS will be accompanied by Mary Bishop and Ya-Jhu Yang on a 9 ft. grand piano. The Liebeslieder Waltzes are a collection of love songs for voices and piano with four hands. From the Bavarian Highlands is a set of choral songs written as a remembrance of a holiday the Elgars had enjoyed in Upper Bavaria. At this concert RCS will also be presenting scholarship and high school award winners. RCS continues to honor these students at our spring each year. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Lyons Volunteer Fire Company Banquet

62nd Annual Fleetwood Fish Rodeo

Saturday, May 11, 2024 - Sunday, May 12, 2024

The 62nd Annual Fish Rodeo is taking place at the Fleetwood Pond in the Fleetwood Park on May 11 and 12. Registration begins at 8 AM on Saturday, May 11 for ages 3-12. Age groups are as follows: Ages 3-6, ages 7-8, ages 9-10, and ages 11-12. Registration on Sunday, May 12 begins at 5:30 AM for ages 13-15, and fishing will take place from 6 AM to 3 PM. Adult fee is a $10 donation, and a valid fishing license is required.  Limit of 4 fish per person per day, and you must keep all trout – there are no releases.  Additional prizes will be awarded for catching a Palomino Fish in memory of our deceased members.  Fishing will be limited to children only from May 13 – 17.  On Saturday, May 18th the pond is open for both adult and children for fishing throughout the season. We hope to see you at this annual Fleetwood tradition!

34th Annual Boyertown Rotary Golf Outing

The 34th Annual Boyertown Rotary Golf Outing is being hosted at Bellewood Golf Club on Monday, May 13, 2024. Consider participating to support the Boyertown Rotary Foundation in raising funds to benefit our local youth and community projects, as well as Rotary International initiatives such as polio eradication and water purification. Major projects include the Fenstermacher Walking Trail and Exercise Campus at the Boyertown Community Park. This $225,000 addition to the park of a one mile walking trail together with two areas of age-related exercise equipment and an 18 hole Disc Golf Course is reflective of what the Boyertown Rotary Club is doing with your support. Another project currently supported by the Boyertown Rotary is the Dictionary Project, which provides a dictionary for every third grader in the Boyertown School District. The “Josh the Otter Program” introduces water safety to all kindergarteners in the district.

2nd Annual Terry’s Legacy Charity Golf Tournament

The 2nd Annual Terry’s Legacy Charity Golf Tournament honors the life and passion of Terry Graul, local businessman and former President of Abilities in Motion. This golf tournament will take place on Sunday, May 19 at Rich Maiden Golf Course. Registration begins at 7:15 AM and shotgun starts at 8 AM. The cost is $95 per player, and all proceeds will benefit individuals with Spinal Cord Injuries as grants for their home modification needs. Schuylkill Valley High School’s Mini-THON

Schuylkill Valley High School is hosting its annual Mini-THON on Friday, May 24. This multi-hour event will bring students together for a common cause – conquering childhood cancer. Last year, we raised over $15,745. Help us reach our goal of $18,000 this year by donating here.

The Hamburg Rotary Golf Tournament is taking place Friday, August 9, 2024 at Galen Hall Golf Course. Shotgun starts at 1:00 PM. This event is rain or shine. Cost is $85 per golfer and includes golf, dinner, soda, beer, prizes, and your cart, which is a requirement of the course. Crime Alert Berks’ 7th Annual Awards Breakfast

The 7th Annual Crime Alert Berks Awards Breakfast is taking place on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at the new Redner Event Center at First Energy Stadium. The event begins at 7:15 AM and will honor Barry Schlouch as the recipient of the Barry E. Rohrbach President’s Award, Leon Grim as the Law Enforcement Officer of the year, and Patrick Boylan will receive the Lifetime Service Award. For over 25 years, Crime Alert Berks County has been leading Commonwealth Crime Stoppers programs and for the past 22 years, they have been the most successful program in Pennsylvania. Since their founding , they have paid $576,124, which lead to over 745 arrests.
