John Paul II’s 15th Annual Legacy Gala

John Paul II Center is hosting their 15th Annual Legacy Gala on Saturday, April 26 at the DoubleTree.  Join them as they celebrate their students, adults and staff, and share their gratitude for those who made it possible for them to do so. The evening includes dinner, a performance by their students and adults, silent and live auctions, and the presentation of the Halo and Peggy’s Legacy of Faith Awards. Through your support, they can continue living their mission to serve children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Purchase tickets here.

Brandywine Blast Baseball Team’s Designer Handbag Bingo

Habitat For Humanity’s 9th Annual Birdhouse Challenge

Habitat for Humanity of Berks County is hosting their 9th Annual Birdhouse Challenge on April 29 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Reading. Join Habitat for Humanity of Berks County for a fun evening at the Birdhouse Challenge! Birdhouse builders create unique and fun birdhouses to be auctioned live, and all birdhouses will be on display at the DoubleTree prior to the event. Preston’s Pantry 7th Annual Food Drive & Community Day

Boyertown Area Multi-Service will be hosting Preston’s 7th Annual Food Drive & Community Day on Saturday, May 3. Join the community from 10 AM to 3 PM to make a difference in Preston’s honor. The following items are being collected: Canned soups, canned potatoes, canned tuna and chicken, snacks, crackers, cereal, pancake mix, laundry detergent, shampoo, conditioner, bar soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and deodorant.

Little People Benefit Golf Tournament

PA Dutch Chapter of L.P.A’s 2025 Little People Benefit Golf Tournament is taking place on Saturday, May 3 rain or shine. This 4-person scramble format tournament is taking place at the Lebanon Valley Golf Course in Myerstown, PA and benefits families with dwarfism. Shotgun start begins at 8 AM, and lunch and prizes follow golf. Tickets are $100 per person and includes golf, one cart per team, two free beer tickets, soda, water, chicken dinner, and a chance to win prizes. Register online here. Questions? Fleetwood Community Yard Sale

The Fleetwood Borough’s Annual Community Yard Sale will take place on Saturday, May 3 from 8 AM to 2 PM in the Fleetwood Park. There will be breakfast and lunch concessions available as well. Friend, Inc. Community Services is hosting their 35th Annual Benefit Auction on Saturday, May 3 at Beltzner Hall at the Kutztown Fairgrounds. Bid on awesome art, jewelry, household and autographed items, and local gift certificates (like hair salons and restaurants) – not to mention our famous desserts.  While you can bid virtually from the comfort of your home, why wouldn’t you want to enjoy a night out with friends and family? Tickets include a dinner buffet and drinks, and the chance to bid on the Executive Bakers’ homemade desserts! Every single dollar raised stays right here in Berks County, which allows Friend, Inc. to provide the many food and social support programs that make Northeastern Berks a healthier, safer place for all. 47th Annual Pops Concert and Dinner Dance

The Rajah Shrine Concert Band is hosting its 47th Annual Pop’s Concert and Dinner Dance on Sunday, May 4 at 2 PM at their Banquet Hall. Bandmaster Bruce Rohrbach plans to have a guest appearance of soloist Kate Smith, who will provide an introduction that is rarely heard. Attendance for this good old fashioned band concert is open to the public, but all seats are reserved and limited. No ticket sales will take place at the door. On Sunday, May 4 from 1 to 5 PM the Reading Science Center is hosting their sequel “Celebrate Science Day” – the outdoor fair with over 20 diverse interactive STEM activities for families in Berks County and beyond! This year’s theme is “May the Force Be with You!”—a celebration of the forces of science and imagination that spark curiosity and innovation. Not only will there be food vendors, music, and fun, but they are bringing together community organizations that will feature hands-on activities, live science demonstrations, roaming science characters, and more! Wheels for Victory’s Annual Car Show

Wheels for Victory is hosting their Annual Car Show at the Kempton Community Center on Saturday, May 10 from 10 AM to 3 PM. Registration will take place from 10 AM to 12 PM, and judging begins at Noon with local “celebrity” judges. Winners will receive $50 gift cards donated by local businesses. Awards will be presented at 2:30 PM and raffle winners will be announced at 2:45 PM. Car categories include Antique, Custom, Street Rod, Motorcycle, Tractor and Truck. The Camel Project’s ChalkPalooza Event

The Camel Project, in collaboration with the City of Reading and Department of Public Works, is hosting their annual ChalkPalooza Event on Saturday, May 10 from 10 AM to 2 PM at 13th & Union Elementary School in Reading. This chalk and bubble festival also includes a color run from 11 AM to 1 PM and car show, as well as music, magic, balloon art and more. Join the fun for a family friendly day of creativity and kindness! We invite participants of all ages to express themselves creatively in a safe, family-supportive environment. Chalk and bubbles are provided free. nPre-registration for chalk is free for all ages. It is not required. You can register at the event, but pre-registration is recommended to guarantee you’ll get a space and free chalk for your art. You can also bring your own chalk. To pre-register, go here. 2025 Pennsylvania State Steel Challenge Championship

The Pricetown Rifle & Pistol Club is hosting the 2025 Pennsylvania State Steel Challenge Championship, which is a sanctioned tier 2 USPSA / SCSA Championship Match. The event is taking place at 100 Club Lane in Fleetwood, PA starting Friday, May 16 and ending Sunday, May 18. The match entry fee is $50. Breast Cancer Support Services of Berks 10th Anniversary Fashion Show & Luncheon

Did you know that each year more than 300 Berks County women and men are diagnosed with breast cancer? Since 1994, BCSS has offered a hand of friendship to those affected by this diagnosis. Breast Cancer Support Services of Berks is hosting their 10th Anniversary Fashion Show & Luncheon on Sunday, May 18 at the DoubleTree Hotel by Hilton Reading. The fashion show will showcase Breast Cancer survivors. Tickets are $75 per person and includes a plated luncheon, silent auction and VIP trips. Reservations are limited to 400 people. This event celebrates the graduating Seniors that this organization serves. At this breakfast event, CIS will award scholarships and share in the success of all of their students through the commitment of their “Ready, Set, Graduate!” sponsors and partners. Vision Resource Center of Berks County’s Annual Golf Tournament

Support Vision Resource Center of Berks County during their Annual golf tournament fundraiser at Galen Hall Golf Club on Wednesday, May 21. Registration and lunch will take place at Noon and shotgun start is at 1 PM. Dinner and awards to follow. Tournament fee of $125 er person includes a round of golf with a cart, lunch, snacks, beverages, dinner and dessert. There will be prizes awarded for winning foursomes in each of the three flights and other awards given at the closing dinner. Entry is limited to the first 100 golfers. 19th Annual Show of Wheels

The Fleetwood Rotary Club is hosting their 19th Annual Show of Wheels on Saturday, June 14 at the Fleetwood Community Park. Registration takes place from 8 AM to 11:30 AM, and judging takes place at Noon with awards to follow at 3 PM. This event is rain or shine! Attendees will also enjoy door prizes, 50 / 50 drawings, entertainment, food, a chance auction, and music by The Sound Factory. Take part in the Rubber Duck Race in the creek for just $5 per duck. 2025 Kempton Fair

The Kempton Fair, presented by and for the benefit of the Kempton Community Center, is taking place Thursday, June 12 – Saturday, June 14, 2025. The fair features livestock and other exhibits, a midway with kid and adult rides, games and food. There’s live music, fireworks, truck and tractor pulls, vendors, crafters and artisans, a beer and wine garden and more. The Kempton Fair is one of the Kempton Community Center’s largest fundraisers for the year which helps with capitalization projects among the buildings and grounds. The Kempton Community Center is a non-profit, completely volunteer organization providing recreation and events for the Kempton community and surrounding area.

Greater Governor Mifflin League’s Community Days

The 49th Annual Greater Governor Mifflin League Community Days is being held from Friday, June 27 to Saturday, July 5 at Governor Mifflin Intermediate School. This 9-day event is a legendary community fair that features food, games, rides and entertainment – including the spectacular fireworks finale. Best of all, admission is completely free! The Greater Governor Mifflin League is a nonprofit organization devoted to supporting the community. Since 1976, the GGML has given back to the community in the form of contributions to local fire companies, ambulance associations, scout troops, school projects, community projects, scholarships, and more. There’s something for the whole family at the Kutztown Fair! The 154th Annual Kutztown Fair is taking place from Monday, August 4 to Saturday, August 9 at the Kutztown Fairgrounds. The fair is taking place from 4 PM to 10 PM every day except for Saturday, August 9. The hours on Saturday, August 9 are 2 PM to 10 PM for Children’s Day. 29th Annual Chile Pepper Festival

The 29th Annual Chile Pepper Festival is taking place on Friday, September 5 and Saturday, September 6 from 9 AM to 6 PM at the William Delong Memorial Park in Bowers, PA. This event is held both days rain or shine! Jalapeno eating contest will take place on Saturday, September 6 at 1 PM. In addition to trophies, first place receives $100, second place receives $75, and third place receives $50. Guests will also enjoy music by The Chile Pepper Ramblers. It’s Okay Not To Be Okay 5K / Walk

NAMI Berks County PA is a local nonprofit dedicated to providing support, education, and advocacy for individuals with mental health conditions and their loved ones. Their ability to offer ample services free of charge relies on the support of our community. They are hosting their third annual 5K Run / walk titled “It’s Okay To Not Be Okay” on Saturday, September 13 at 9:30 AM at Gring’s Mill Recreation Area. On Thursday, October 9 the Vision Resource Center of Berks County is hosting their annual Dine in the Dark fundraiser at The Berkshire Country Club. This is an enlightening dining experience to increase awareness of living with visual impairment. The positive community support of this evening’s event allowed the Vision Resource Center of Berks County and the Kutztown University Visual Impairment Program the continued opportunity to help blind and visually impaired children and adults in our community. Rejoicing Spirits Services & Fellowship

First Sunday of Every Month

Rejoicing Spirits of Eastern Berks County invites anyone to attend their services and fellowship times on the first Sunday of every month at 3:00 PM at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ. Parking is located behind the church with an accessible entrance from the parking lot. All are welcome to each 30 to 40 minute, no-shush ecumenical worship service that enriches the lives of all people, especially the differently-abled, their caregivers, families and friends. Rejoicing Spirits includes music, playing musical instruments, joyous singing, opportunities to participate, brief and meaningful messages, and the chance to connect with others.
